Madison Square Garden chairman James Dolan finally spoke out about how his security guards threw beloved Knicks legend Charles Oakley out of the Garden on Wednesday night-and he chose to put Oak on blast.

One thing is for sure, today may have been the day the New York Knicks committed PR suicide.

Knicks owner James Dolan, seen above wielding a binder full of notes labeled "preparation", appeared on The Michael Kay Show this afternoon to continue inflaming the Charles Oakley debacle.

"I don't know how to explain it", Dolan said of Oakley's claims that he was innocent of wrongdoing. Sources told NBC 4 New York MSG was expected to release video from the fray later Friday. "That's embarrassing. I didn't do nothing".

But the sight of Oakley, a popular figure on the Knicks when they were perennial playoff contenders from 1988-98, being herded out of the stands and handcuffed provoked a backlash from other former and current players. If you think this week won't have longstanding ramifications for the franchise, just look at how both of those decisions echoed around the National Basketball Association universe, and received near universal condemnation.

Oakley told Castiglione he wasn't drinking in the Garden and was never told he wasn't welcome in the arena.

Oakley said "He don't want to meet with me".

Neither Benedetto nor Madison Square Garden representatives could immediately be reached for comment.

"We are going to put the ban in place and hopefully it won't be forever", Dolan said.

Oakley, a 10-year veteran of the Knicks and member of the 1993-94 NBA Finals team, was forcefully removed from the arena on Tuesday after an altercation with security.
