Oklahoma was boosted by sophomore center Jamuni McNeace, who had a career night with 14 points, 14 rebounds and a pair of blocks on the night.

Sophomore guard Kerwin Roach Jr. scored 13 points and contributed a team-high five assists, while freshman guard Andrew Jones added 12 points and five rebounds. Against the Sooners, the Horns were an equally woeful 7 for 16.

Despite trailing by only one point at halftime, the Sooners found themselves down by eight points early in the second half after the Longhorns opened the half on an 8-1 run. "I'm very pleased for the guys". They've hung together, they've worked hard and they've made progress.

As for the production without Woodard, it was Shepherd who came alive in the second half, scoring all seven of his points in the final five minutes. "Everybody was knocking down shots".

"Very disappointed", Texas coach Shaka Smart said. "He made some good one-on-one post moves". The Sooners clawed back and took its first lead of the half (38-37) after a C.J. Cole putback at the 1:22 mark. Kameron McGusty and Rashard Odomes each added 11 points from the wings, as well, while Kristian Doolittle did his part offensively with nine points.

Texas jumped to a 9-2 lead in the first three minutes and held the advantage throughout the first half.

Oklahoma: The Sooners avoided their longest losing streak since 2010-11 (Jeff Capel's final season as coach), when they lost eight in a row. With senior Jordan Woodard out of the lineup with a torn ACL Oklahoma needed an offensive spark, and McNeace emerged at the right time. With a closing stretch that includes probable NCAA Tournament teams Kansas State, West Virginia, Kansas and Baylor, the Texas Tech game might be the Longhorns' best chance for a win before season's end.

Texas: Barring a run through the Big 12 Tournament, Texas is going to miss the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2012. But that was as close as Texas would get the rest of the way.

As the video finished, the crowd gave Woodard a standing ovation. The 3-pointer was just his second field goal, putting OU up 63-57. Senior forward Shaquille Cleare reached double figures in scoring for the third time in the past four games, recording 10 points on 5-of-7 shooting and six rebounds.
